10 Best Rated UK Family Holiday Accommodation| Baby Friendly Boltholes

This year I’m set to become a mum of a child that attends school.  So I’m suddenly learning all about the importance of making sure all trips are pre booked and fit into the restrictive schedule of the school holidays.

Timing is key.

You don’t want to leave things until last-minute because all the best things will likely already be booked.

Of course a break away with the family can either be near or far.

And today I thought I’d focus on the near.

So here are the top 10 best rated UK family holiday accommodation by Baby Friendly Boltholes.

1. Fallow Deer

This is the fourth year running that Fallow Deer has come out in the top 10.  This timber clad cottage is located in the heart of the New Forest.

With Paulton’s Park near by, the coast a mere 20 minute drive and of course wildlife on the doorstep, there are loads of things for the family to do.  If relaxation is what you’re looking for you can enjoy the hot tub or even hire a local beauty therapist to pamper you in the comfort of the cottage.

2. Twin Cottage

Another New Forest property, Twin Cottage has its own playroom to keep the little ones happy while you’re away.  No wonder it’s found its way onto the top 10 list for the 6th time!

With a romantic interior including its own roll top slipper bath and log burning fire what could be a better for the perfect British escape.

3. Camellia Cottage

The Isle of Wight should be on everyone’s holiday list at one point or another.  Kids will love getting the ferry over to the island and they’ll adore exploring all that the Isle of Wight has to offer.

Camellia Cottage would be the perfect getaway for families catering for different ages.  The little ones have a manner of toys to play with inside and outside.  While older children can enjoy the football table and traditional outdoor games.

4. Clydey Cottage - Foxglove Cottage

With a complimentary children’s club/crèche available two days a week, Foxley Cottage in Wales would be perfect escape for parents looking for a little bit of time to enjoy the spa suite facilities.

With breath-taking views this would be the ideal place to let kids get back to nature, and for parents to relax.

5. Palm Cottage

With a white instagrammable interior, this beautiful cottage located in Dorset will delight your little folk.  With a play snug built into the cavity under the stairs just imagine the games they’ll be able to concoct.

With some dry ski slopes nearby, older kids may want to try their hand at skiing or snowboarding while the little ones might prefer the nearby Alice in Wonderland theme park.

6. Hollies House

Based in Sussex, Hollies House is a vintage lovers dream.  It has a 5ft dolls house that’ll bound to excite all children along with a variety of clothes for them to dress up in and toys to play with.

Based near the historic Goodwood estate, racecourse and motor circuit it would be the ideal base for anyone attending one of the events.

7. Tiptoe Cottage

We return to the New Forest with Tiptoe Cottage.  The cottage has its own gate that backs onto the national park where the wild ponies and cattle often frequent.

It’s a cottage that is appealable all year around with outdoor equipment for the different seasons and lots of indoor entertainment that can be used on rainy days too.

8. Hyde Paddock

A winner for the top 10 list for the third year running, Hyde Paddock is another property located in the New Forest region.  Not surprising as the owners are the same as the ones that own Fallow Deer.

Being a mile apart, if you were considering a break away with extended family or with friends, by hiring both properties you can still have your own time to enjoy, while still being close enough for sociable evenings or get togethers throughout the day.

9. Dairy Cottage

The huge cathedral windows in the master bedroom of this property would make mornings extra special.  And the pirate ship in the garden will amuse the little ones for hours.

This property is definitely one for those that appreciate eco living, as it has many eco credentials in its design and with the products that have been used to decorate.

 10. Stonehayes Farm- Cider House

Children with love helping the owners feed the farm animals including the pigs, sheep and chickens.  Or they’ll no doubt tire themselves out on the huge trampoline.

Based in Cornwall this cottage is located within close distance to many beaches that will need to be explored!

  1. These all sound amazing, especially the one in Dorset. I bet the Alice in Wonderland park is pretty magical 🙂 x

  2. What some amazing sounding places for anyone to go to. I went to the Isle of Wight years ago and it is definitely somewhere I would love to return to.

  3. Fallow Deer looks stunning, I had no idea that we had a cottage like this so close by. I live near Palm Cottage 🙂

    • Oh really? I love how perfect it is- I’d forever be trying to befriend them so O could take instagram pictures there if I lived nearby lol x

  4. These are great places for families to visit, we have been thinking about heading to The New Forest, so might go check out Hyde Paddock following your recommendation.

  5. These all sound amazing places to have a break! I would love to visit the one in Wales x

  6. Somehow we have never stayed in a cottage before but we must definitely change that and try one of these gorgeous cottages!

  7. Lots of these are cottages aren’t they? I think that’s so telling because as a family we prefer something that has more space, more room for kids to spread out - 100% a cottage or apartment!

  8. Aha, I can’t believe this … The LondonMum hoists our Dorset & New Forest flag!! & it now proudly flutters promoting possible ‘holiday places to stay’ in our Dorset sky hahaha. – WELL PLAYED LONDONMUM!! (bet you don’t remember the old Pullman B&WC railway carriage recording studio in the NF?? - that’s going back yesteryear haha.) I know of 2 of your recommendations – luxurious holiday ‘cabins’ in the Forest - & in easy reach of Sandbanks – what more could you ask for? – Great family holiday HQ’s, the beautiful & very explorable New Forest for a little ‘prince & princess’ of creative play imaginations – (& official home to the family-on-holiday Poo Sticks championships haha) … & our Blue Flagged awarded child friendly sandy Sandbanks beach for proud sun-worshipping parents (if ya’ lucky ha.) Can’t actually guarantee the weather – but CAN guarantee expensive ice creams though ha. Hope you are deservedly spoilt to the ‘mumsies enth degree’ on the 14th. “Roses are red, violets are blue, a Dorset holiday awaits for a proud Mum of 2 -THAT’S YOU.” (Shakespeare – on ‘oliday.) Hope all’s well. Onwards LondonMum.

  9. Oh I have been looking for something like this. Somewhere with a crèche would be perfect.

  10. Each one of these accommodations seems astonishing and definitely worth visiting, Donna! I fell in love with the Camellia Cottage. When would it be the best time of the year to explore the Isle of Wight?

    • I think each of the seasons have their charm, but personally I’m a fan of the summer months the most. The UK when the weather is good is just beautiful!
