One of my great passions in life is the world of beauty. Anything beauty and make up related I adore, it’s one of the reasons I qualified as a beauty therapist and furthered my love of make up by learning from the great artists at AOFM. Being a Mum has put my love of all things beauty related on the shelf for a while but with the newness of the year I’m itching to get some amazing new products to try out and play with (by new I don’t mean new to the market, just new to me!).
I like to have a good base before applying make up because less is certainly more especially for Summer, and by base I’m not talking foundation- yet. Trying to get your skin as good as possible before the Summer months can be hard work but a little TLC can works wonders. Yesterday I popped into Selfridges and bought this little miracle from Kiehl’s:
It comes highly recommended with loads of rave reviews, and apparently diminishes dark circles and brightens up the eye area. Plus it helps with the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, which is certainly a concern of mine as I get older. If I can go foundation free this summer, it’ll definitely be my eyes that give me away if I don’t tend to them!
If foundation free isn’t going to be a possibility I want to try and keep my skin looking as healthy and ‘glowy’ as possible without looking greasy. I’ve been reading up about the Sheer Glow Foundation from Nars, which looks like the perfect solution. Not only is it a build-able foundation; so I can use as little as is necessary, it also helps to improve skin’s brightness and texture.
For Mummy ease I love the look of the Colour Chameleon Eyeshadow Pencils from Charlotte Tilbury. There is a day time pencil and a night time pencil for every eye colour to help bring out the undertones in the iris making the eyes stand out. As I have brown eyes, I am lusting after Dark Pearl and Amber Haze.
Finally for this month the only other items I want to get my little hands on are the gorgeous lipsticks from Charlotte Tilbury (you can tell I stopped longingly at the counter in Selfridges). Matte Revolution: Bond Girl and K.I.S.S.I.N.G: Penelope Pink are my ideal choices, but I found it hard to narrow them down to that if I’m being honest. The Look Book really helped me out deciding what colours might suit my skin tone, and as I’m quite fair but with an olive tone and dark features I went for the look that suited Mediterranean complexions such as Penelope Cruz, Monica Bellucci and Sophia Loren.
Have you tried any of the items listed above? I’d love to hear how you found them. Or what pieces have you been lusting after this month?
